Antwerp Maritime Academy
The Antwerp Maritime Academy (AMA)
is the only college in Belgium offering
training in Nautical Sciences and Marine Engineering.
The Nautical Sciences training consists of two cycles:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nautical Sciences
(3 years)
- Master's Degree in Nautical Sciences
(1 year)
The Marine Engineering training consists of one cycle:
- Bachelor's Degree in Marine Engineering
(3 years)
The courses are taught in Dutch and French.
However, in the Master's program in Nautical Sciences,
many courses are taught in English.
Apart from its function as a training centre, the AMA
plays an active role in scientific research and provides
services to third parties.
The Antwerp Maritime Academy is a participating member of
the
European Erasmus Lifelong Learning Program. It also
plays an active role in international projects
outside of Europe where its know-how can be used.
Antwerp
Antwerp, mediaeval and modern
Antwerp -
home to Rubens, international diamond centre,
capital of fashion, world port and riverside haven -
is a bustling convivial city which offers the visitor
an irresistible mixture of culture and commerce.
Visit Antwerp's picturesque mediaeval centre,
browse round the city's renowned shops, malls and boutiques,
or simply drink in the welcoming and multicultural atmosphere
of Flanders's greatest city.
Antwerp, maritime metropolis
Antwerp's location at the head of a dense network
of rivers and canals, roads and railways provides
it with fast connections to the European hinterland.
This has helped to render the
Port of Antwerp
the second
largest port in Europe. It is ranked amongst the ten
largest ports worldwide and also as the most productive.
How to get there
By public transportation
Most trains to Antwerp arrive at the Central Station,
in the center of the city.
Train schedules can be consulted on the website of the national
railway company,
NMBS/SNCB,
where you can also buy and print your train tickets.
Buses 763 and 764 depart at the Rooseveltplaats
(300 m from the Central Station) and have a stop near the school.
In the morning these buses frequently drive towards the school
and in the afternoon mainly towards the city.
Various buses are stopping frequently at the corner of Rijnkaai
and Londenstraat (see indication on map), at about 1500 m from the school.
